0.5.28 22 Sep 2026

  • Tracks from a USB drive stay playable after it is gone. When you add a track from a removable drive, a CD or the network, Mber copies it to the hard disk on its own and plays from that copy. It is switched on in Settings, which also shows where the copies live, how much space they take and offers a cleanup. A copy is kept only while the track is in a playlist.
  • A USB drive cannot be ejected while copying is still running — Windows reports that the device is in use. If someone pulls it out anyway, Mber lists the tracks that were not kept.
  • Files over 2 GB are confirmed first, so a film does not start copying itself to the disk.

  • Crossfade for video too: the option applies both to a cursor jump and to the transition between tracks.

  • Video fills the window, aspect ratio has its own checkbox and Alt+arrows work in the window as well.
  • Stopping clears the video window — for files and additional windows too. Previously the last frame stayed on screen.
  • Space (play/pause) targets the playing playlist, not the selected tab.
  • The main window appears straight at its saved position; no intermediate window during startup.
  • A loaded film shows its first frame and keeps a buffer, so Play is instant.
  • Films from the internet: seeking follows a measured ratio of two timelines, so the jump lands correctly in an MPEG-TS stream.

  • Video over the network: a film is downloaded once for both audio and video. Previously both paths asked for it separately and the server transcoded twice.
  • Quality menu like the web client (resolution + bitrate), with an automatic choice based on link speed.
  • Subtitles and quality in one menu; „waiting for data" and „opening video" now have a spinner.
  • Stop really disconnects from the film and switching rows disconnects the previous one.
  • Optional „Glow" skin for the main window; frames and platters take the border colour.
  • Stopping a playlist is written to the log together with what triggered it.
